We have a 4-step process for choosing the right paddle.

  1. Choose paddle length and shaft including material and diameter.
  2. Choose your blade shape and size.
  3. Choose your blade material.
  4. Choose your centre joint.

If you're ready to order your paddle, you can skip straight to making an order from our shop or with your local dealer

Step 1: Choose your paddle length and shaft diameter.

We've written some great articles to help you select the right paddle size. Have a read through these to find out more:

Your size options:

(All straight shafts are also available in fibreglass)

  • Straight - Narrow - Custom
  • Straight - Standard - 200-210
  • Straight - Standard - 205-215
  • Straight - Standard - 208-218

  • Cranked - Narrow - New design
  • Cranked - Standard - 208-218
  • Cranked - Standard - 210-220

Step 2: Choose your blade shape and size.

Don't forget our sizing guide here: Paddle sizing guide. You can view our blade shapes here.

Step 3: Choose your blade material.

You can view more info on our blade materials here.

  • Carbon: Light, stiff, and powerful. The pro paddler's choice
  • Carbon light: A lighter version of our carbon blade.
  • N12 Nylon: Strong, super tough and the ultimate durability. Great for clubs and kayak schools.
  • Classic Polymer: Light blades for recreational paddling in lakes and rivers. These are more flexible than N12 and Carbon.

Step 4: Choose your centre joint.

  • Leverlok: The Leverlok gives you 10cm of adjustment. This is the most popular joint. It allows you to adjust the length and the feather of the paddle without a tool. This joint is 13grams (1/2 ounce) heavier than our Vari Paddlok joint.
  • Paddlok: The Paddlok joint is the simplest joint. Offering a fixed length paddle.
  • Vari Paddlok: The Vari Paddlok joint offers 6cm of adjustment in length in 2cm intervals, you can also adjust the feather and set it for left or right handed paddlers. It is easier to stow as a split as there are no protruding parts on this joint.

Read more about our joint systems here.

If you are ordering the Leverlok or the Vari Paddlok then you should allow the paddle to be made shorter and longer than you usually paddle with. For example if you choose the Leverlok and you use a 210 paddle order a 206 – 216 or 208 – 218. Both the Leverlok and the Vari Paddlok cost the same.

Final options:

How many pieces?

All our sea kayak paddles are 4pc as standard but you can order:

  • 1-piece paddles: A one-piece paddle will be lighter and more flexible. For shipping, this is the only option we don’t recommend. This will cost more than twice the amount of money to ship than the other options. This can be a good option for White Water and Surf paddles although 3-piece should also be considered.
  • 2-piece paddles: A two-piece paddle allows you to store as a spare paddle on the kayak, it also gives the option to have a paddle with variable length.
  • 3-piece paddles: A three-piece paddle gives you the option of interchanging paddle blades, it retains shaft flexibility but reduces the overall length for storage, shipping, and transportation. Please remember that the paddle length and feather will be fixed so must be specified when ordering.
  • 4-piece paddles: A four-piece paddle gives you the added option over the 2pc of being able to take the blades off. Different blade sizes or designs can then be fitted to your shaft. Most 4-piece paddles will fit into hand luggage or kayak hatch so are ideal for travel. This design offers you the ultimate flexibility and repairability.
